Why Crate training Your Dog is Essential

How to Crate Train a Dog
First thing to think about when you crate train your dog is that you have to start young. This is because an older dog that has never been in a crate may grow anxious because it will have a tougher time adapting to the small space.
To start with, place the crate in the family room or someplace where there are a lot of people. At night, you can place the crate in your bedroom to give them a presence safety nearby. After a month or so, you'll be ready to leave them in one.
Keep in mind that the crate is clean and comfortable enough to sleep in. And also put a nearby water supply and a toy for your pup to play with. Also remember that the crate should be only be big enough for him to sleep in. Simply because if it's too big, he can move about in it and he might make a mess in it.
Also make sure that you don't pull the pup out of the crate if he gets agitated. By doing this, you will only teach the pup that you will give him attention if he makes a fuss, making you lose your established dominance. To avoid this from going on you can take the puppy out when he has been quiet for at least 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, you can give him all the attention they desire to reinforce that what he did is right.
Initially, you can try leaving your pup in the crate for brief periods - an hour or two at a time. As he matures you can match the increase in time to a full night of sleep or a day at the office.
With these tips you can properly crate train your dog and you'll be sure that your dog never gets too loud, anxious, or destructive when you leave the home.
